Waiver and Release of Rights
Party:The named individual above, referred to here as "Volunteer," agrees to the following terms with Good Shepherd Humane Society ("The Society").
Release of Liability
General Release: Volunteer hereby agrees to waive, release, and relinquish any and all rights, remedies, and claims against The Society for any injuries incurred and damages of any kind and nature during the performance of voluntary services on property owned and operated by The Society. This excludes acts of gross negligence or deliberate acts by The Society, its agents, and employees.
Health Risks: Volunteer acknowledges being informed that serious communicable diseases may be exchanged between animals and humans. Additionally, Volunteer is aware of and accepts the risks of exposure to mites, ticks, fleas, animal bites, scratches, or aggressive animal behavior often associated with stressed, stray, or abandoned animals.
Unknown Animal Behavior: Volunteer acknowledges that many animals cared for by The Society are unknown to workers and may exhibit unpredictable behavior. Volunteer accepts any and all risks involved in working with such animals.
Special Conditions
Pregnancy: If female, Volunteer confirms she is not pregnant and has been informed that pregnant women are specifically excluded from performing voluntary work with animals due to the possibility of exposure to infectious organisms.
Unaware Pregnancy: If Volunteer is pregnant but unaware at the time of signing, she releases and holds The Society harmless for any exposure and results that may occur.
Miscellaneous
Non-Profit Status: Volunteer acknowledges that The Society is a non-profit organization. Any work performed is voluntary and without financial consideration.
Binding Effect: Volunteer agrees that this waiver is binding upon his or her heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.
